 OverView

EZReader can extract text from an image, making the text available for editing within EZReader. The captured text is placed on the clipboard. It may then be viewed using the EZReader View Clipboard application or pasted into other Windows applications.

Text extraction works best when the image is of printed text. Images of hand-written text do not extract accurately, particularly with cursive text.

Images can be placed on the clipboard by EZReader using the Capture application.

 Screens

The Text Extraction feature does not have a display screen. It does present two messages to indicate when extraction begins and when the extracted ext is available on the clipboard.

 OCR Library

To extract text, EZReader uses the tesseract OCR library. It is free software that was originally developed by Hewlett-Packard in the 1980s. It was released as open source in 2005 and development has been sponsored by Google since 2006. The Windows version used by EZReader is found here.

Thank you for considering EZReader!
